University of Vermont
The University of Vermont Medical Center offers a six-year General Surgery Residency Program that includes five clinical years and one surgical research year. Clinical rotations are designed to provide experience in preoperative, operative and postoperative care for patients in all general surgery areas. UVM faculty provide general surgical residents with substantial surgical and research experience in an atmosphere of collegiality. Research experience exists in basic and clinical science, as well as in global health and surgical education.

University of Colorado – Department of Surgery
The Department of Surgery gained international recognition when four University physicians pioneered open-heart surgery in the 1950s. Today, physicians in the Department are nationally recognized for excellence in the areas of cancer surgery, pediatric and adult cardiac surgery, pulmonary tuberculosis surgery, burn treatment, urologic oncology, plastic/reconstructive/hand surgery, solid organ transplantation, vascular surgery, and trauma surgery. The Department of Surgery at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus takes pride in our ongoing research into new technologies and our continuous improvements in patient care.

The Department is comprised of eight surgical divisions: Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Otolaryngology-Head/Neck Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive, Pediatric (General) Surgery, Urology, and Vascular. Virginia Tech Carilion Department of Surgery is comprised of 91 faculty members with residencies in surgery, plastic surgery, and neurosurgery. The partnership between Carilion Clinic and the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute was formed out of an innovative public-private enterprise in 2007.
